AOL, developed by AOL Media LLC, is a converged mobile application that combines multiple services in one. The application gives users access to check their AOL Mail as well as breaking news and weather forecasts and trending videos from one interface. Users can access the application through Android and iOS platforms because its simplified interface supports numerous user requirements.

AOL provides a near seamless transition between all features it offers. An example of this capability allows users to quickly move between reading news headlines and checking their inbox. Users can access news from traditional sources such as TechCrunch, HuffPost, Engadget, AOL Finance and AOL Sports through a centralized content aggregation in the application. Users can receive content alerts about breaking news through automated system notifications beyond app usage sessions.

When it comes to email organization, AOL does have several useful features. Customers can view their AOL Mail everywhere, view all of their AOL and phone contacts at one point, and change swipe gestures in order to mark as spam or delete an email quickly. Security features such as Touch ID or Face ID also appear in the app for an additional layer of protection. A one-tap delete of trash and spam messages also makes organization of emails easy.

The weather function on the app allows a user to look at his or her area’s weather using one touch and see both hourly and daily weather. Users have the ability to set customized notices for updates in times of preference to be highly prepared for tomorrow.

The video section features all sorts of subjects, ranging from celebrity gossip, animals, up to breaking stories, allowing the users to access different subjects of interest via the app.

Despite its feature-rich capabilities, AOL has gotten some criticism. There have been instances of instability from the app, with others experiencing crashes or being unable to load new mail. Additionally, the interface of the app has been described as somewhat archaic relative to modern email clients, with no facility for advanced customizations and live collaboration features.
