Royal Kingdom, developed by Dream Games, Ltd., is a fun match-3 puzzle adventure that is an extension of the world that was developed in their previous hit, Royal Match. Released globally in November of 2024, the game sees the introduction of King Richard, the younger brother of King Robert, as they attempt to save their kingdom from the Dark King and his minions.

The core gameplay involves match-3 puzzle resolution with the player matching three or more identical items in order to remove obstacles and advance to specific objectives. Each level features its own dedicated challenges such as ivy-covered tile destruction, extinguishing fire, or destruction of enemy structures such as the formidable Tortoise, a new enemy introduced in recent patches. There are also special levels where one must defeat the Dark King’s armies by solving puzzles using intelligent matches to annihilate his defenses.

Among the top features of Royal Kingdom is its rich and colorful graphics. The game’s backgrounds are painted in a colorful and often magical way which brings the kingdom to life. Every part, like the castles, gardens and statues, is carefully made to make players feel like they are in an enchanted land. You can enjoy playing because the animations are fluid and the interface is simple to use.

Levels are completed to advance and every finished level unlocks the chance to use coins to develop and create neighborhoods in the kingdom. These new districts, such as Parliament Square, University, and the newly added Library, introduce new gameplay aspects and storylines, enriching the game even more. Players also get potions and boosters that assist them in difficult levels, adding a strategic twist to the gameplay.

The game introduces a series of power-ups and boosters that assist players in advancing through difficult puzzles. As a reference, Wizard Hat changes the color of board tiles to create power-ups, Bomber Plane attacks the board with bombs, and Battle Ram annihilates rows of tiles and removes blocks without consuming a move. You need these tools on the hard levels and they make solving the puzzles more interesting.

Though there is much to like about the game, it still has some weaknesses. Players have noted how similar the game is to Royal Match, with much of the mechanics and artwork replicated. Additionally, the implementation of in-app purchases for coins and boosters is something that can annoy players, as it sometimes requires additional resources to progress through tougher levels.
