Gathering up bananas fills up a power bar, and then Kong can unleash special powers, like super speed and invincibility. Additionally, bananas can also be used to help make upgrades that let Kong have greater stamina or even unlock other animals that can be ridden to advantage users.

Overall, high score or no high score, and even during the dull bits, Banana Kong is a riotous, drug-addled, hugely addictive mess of flying maces, rocks and, of course, bananas, that you come back to for just one more try just one more banana.
