The game retains the classic gameplay of rolling dice, buying properties, building houses and hotels but introduces new features for the mobile user, such as mini-games, sticker album collection, and social aspects. MONOPOLY GO! is played by rolling dice to move your token along theme boards filled with property tiles where you spend your amassed Monopoly cash. In addition to the standard houses and hotels, players build and progress landmarks specific to each board, key to progressing on larger and tougher city-themed boards.

The progression system brings a level of strategy, as you must decide how you will best utilize your resources in order to maximize your net worth and unlock new boards. The game is designed around brief, in-your-face sessions, ideal for mobile play on-the-go. Every roll can lead to a chain of events, such as rolling into rail spaces which will introduce mini-games “Shut Down” and “Bank Heist,” where you can assault other players’ landmarks or steal money. The mini-games add an interactive and dynamic element, making gameplay more varied and less staid than the actual board game. Players can charge rent, collect Chance cards, pay their taxes, or even go to jail without sacrificing the original Monopoly experience but with new mechanics.

Stickers are accumulated through card packs, milestones, and events, and bartered with friends or at community events to complete albums for rewards like dice, money, shields, and special tokens.
