While this third offering from Mobigame plays into all the cliche of the zombie genre, it flips the typical script by making you ruler of a festering herd of the walking dead that enrage the whole city as you smash through it gobbling up humans and causing all sorts of chaos.

What sets Zombie Tsunami apart is the balance it strikes between accessibility and depth. The main mechanic is simple to get the hang of — tap to jump, swipe to attack and collect humans to grow your always-increasing mega-pack of zombies. But it's a deceptively strategic game under the surface. Every single decision is crucial: Do you risk splitting your horde to snatch a power-up? Do you hoard your coins for upgrades, or do you blow them on short-term boosts? Unpredictable obstacles, like exploding cars, giant UFOs and winged elephants; will make sure you never play the same run twice.

The game, visually, is delicious: a colorful, retro-inspired world with exaggerated animations that come together to transmit, through humor and charm, its zombie apocalypse to the screen. Its sound design is equally in tune with the insanity, between the pleasant “chomp” of munching on pedestrians and the triumphant fanfare that plays when you've unlocked a new power-up. Coins are used to unlock new zombies, power-ups and other skills so players always feel like they're making progress. Daily challenges and global leaderboards further amp up the compulsive tension, and so you're constantly returning for “just one more run”.
